Hold the Glamour

I am a full-figure model and working mother. I am a wife, a sister, a daughter, a friend. I am a Leo. I am a first-generation Aussie and mother to two amazing little native New Yorkers. I believe that fashion is important—but so is real life. I believe that all women are beautiful and strong. I believe in working hard and loving harder. I believe in eating delicious food and drink with close friends, in breathing deep the air of new places, in laughing until you cry. I believe that when our bodies and minds are healthy and balanced, anything is possible.

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and all the very best for 2015!

With only days left before this year ends and another one begins, I start to marvel at how fast time flies and how much my children have grown, comparing this year’s Santa photo to last year’s.

What a year 2014 has been — the global events that have shaped and changed our world forever and etched themselves into history. There are so many wonderful things to be grateful and thankful for and then for some, unfortunately there isn’t.

During my last week of work for 2014, a man took innocent people hostage in a Sydney cafe — what a time, what an outcome and what an amazing city — it’s just one of so many events that occurred this year, both good and bad.

To all those who are lost, hurt, suffering and mourning at this time, my heart goes out to you.

I have some behind-the-scene shots of the autumn catalogue I shot for Modern Curve which happens to be one of my last shoots for 2014.

Love your curves!

I have a new fashion editorial out this week in Australia’s New Idea magazine — it’s a spring fashion spread for women with gorgeous curves. I love it!

I also love the fabulous colours and prints on the pages below and was so excited to wear these beautiful, comfortable, flattering and fashionable outfits.

The photographer, David Gubert and Fashion Director, Julie Russell are simply, a phenomenal team. The very talented Craig Beaglehole had me in the hair and make-up chair, weaving his beauty magic.

Thank you New Idea for the opportunity to showcase fashion for the average-sized woman. I am thrilled curvy women have so many options and choices in fashion, now more than ever.

What are you getting excited for in spring fashion in the Southern Hemisphere and fall fashion in the Northern?

What are your favourite colour palettes this season? What about prints?

How do your feel about your curves and fashion — regardless of your size?

Love your curves ladies!

Be well.

Juggling work, travel and family life

I cannot believe how busy I have been these last few months with work, travel and family life. It really is a juggle most of the time as a working mother and a struggle some of the time coordinating all the sectors of my life and career, let alone my husband’s.

My time has been split between the US, Europe and Australia of late. My body has been in so many planes and times zones — I sometimes wake up and am not sure where I am.

My latest shoot in Sydney, Australia for Ezibuy provided some fun and happy behind-the-scene shots I’d like to share with you. Please see below…

What is ‘Sizeable’?

‘Sizeable’ is a new and interesting website that was created by fashion writer Larissa Thorne, 25, from Melbourne, Australia who was herself frustrated by her own online shopping experience.

The website uses six models all of whom are a different size — interesting right? They all model each piece of clothing allowing the online shopper to get an idea if the style and cut of the garment will suit their body shape and size.

The website launched recently and all six models are friends of Ms. Thorne who have their dress size and measurements posted on the website to help frustrated shoppers simplify their online shopping experience. The models come in all shapes and sizes and are regular women you would find on the street.

Once you get on the website you select your model of choice, then start shopping the looks your model is wearing. You get to visualise yourself in the clothes for your body type before purchasing.

I personally think using models in all shapes and sizes is a brilliant idea! I’m surprised no one has done this sooner, that said, kudos to Ms. Thorne for doing it!

Would you use this site to shop online?

What do you love/dislike about this concept for a website?

What do you think of using ‘regular’ women verses ‘models’ that come in all shapes and sizes?

I’d love to hear your thoughts — don’t be shy! Happy shopping in the meantime!

Mascara, perfume and lip pencils

I’d love to share some product favourites I’ve come across of late — I’ve re-discovered L’OREAL Paris Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara after the longest time. It does what it says… it’s a no brainer!

As you know, I love a good lash and if a mascara doesn’t deliver then it’s out. You don’t need to build up the lashes with layers and layers of product that eventually weigh down your lashes.

Whilst in Australia last month, I discovered this soft and feminine scent called Vanitas by Versace. I really love the fragrance as it develops onto the skin. I can hardly smell it after I put it on and the compliments I get surprise me.

Another fabulous product I love is the NARS matte lip pencil. Annette McKenzie uses them all the time and we always get fabulous results.

The lip pencils look matte however, my lips never feel dry. You get the wear without the chapped, dry skin which is a plus.

Have you made any new or exciting product discoveries of late?

What product/s turn you on?

What beauty product do you find difficult to live without?

Glowing green

Happy 2014 to you! Hope you’ve had a great start to the New Year.

The holiday break was short and sweet with a lot of yummy food and delicious wine celebrated and consumed with family and friends.

With the festive season so recently behind us, it was back to work on Monday shooting for Ezibuy in Sydney, Australia. It was time to return to healthy eating habits like drinking Kimberly Snyder’s Glowing Green Smoothie for breakfast.

I make and drink it when I’m home and not on ‘holiday’ or traveling as it’s challenging to do so. Most of the time is good for me and then I have it made at a juice bar when I come across one during my travels.

Not only does it taste good, it does good for your complexion and health. I love it. At least I know it’s a fabulous and healthy start to my day.

Kimberly Snyder’s Glowing Green Smoothie

Ingredients
12-16 oz filtered water
1 head romaine lettuce
1 cup spinach
3 celery stalks
1 apple (cored)
1 pear
1 banana
Juice of ½ lemon
1 cup ice (if desired)

Instructions
Place all the ingredients in the blender jar in the order listed.
Turn on your blender (Vitamix is one of the best to use) and quickly increase the speed to HIGH.
Run the blender for at least two minutes or until the ingredients are completely smooth.

Serves: 5-6 cups.

For more beauty tips, healthy recipes etc. from Kimberly, please see below.

Do you have your own recipe of a ‘green smoothie’ you love? If so, what is it?

What healthy breakfast can you not go without?

Next up, I’m back to the US of A. I hope the great freeze will be well and truly over! Fingers crossed… Till next time.

Happy Holidays!

I was going to post this on December 24 however, Christmas festivities took me away from reality. Better late than never…

Germany - Nuremberg Christmas Market

Germany – Nuremberg Christmas Market

I just returned home from a marathon work trip literally around the world. My last stop was Nuremberg, Germany. I thought New York was the place to be pre-Christmas! Those Germans know how to celebrate and decorate for the festive season — I was so impressed.

Nuremberg - ginger bread hearts and candy galore

When one of my agents told me I would be working in Nuremberg, the next thing she mentioned was that I would have to go to one of Germany’s most famous Christmas markets held in the same city… And I did.

Nuremberg - Christmas ornaments so beautiful and fragile

The Christmas Market was packed and it was a tight squeeze from one aisle to another. I heard accents from all corners of the world.

Nuremberg - I have never seen so many gorgeous Christmas ornaments

I bought my angels some handmade Christmas decorations and toys from the open air market. It had to be light and compact as my suitcase was already bursting with Christmas gifts purchased during my travels.

Nuremberg - There were sausages, sauerkraut and Gluehwein everywhere (German Hot Wine Punch)

Everyone was so civilised and calm considering the crowd. Most of the market stalls were food and ornament filled.

Hope you had a great Christmas with those you love and cherish.

May the New Year be full of all the divine things that a New Year can and will bring into our lives.

I’m on holidays in Victoria, Australia with my family at the moment. We are loving our time in the sun. Hope you are too — where ever you are in this precious world.

Here’s to 2014!!!

Salvation Army Wishing Tree Appeal

Salvation Army Wishing Tree

Salvation Army Wishing Tree

A couple of days ago, a bunch of celebrities (including myself), kick-started the Salvation Army Wishing Tree Appeal at Kmart Broadway, Sydney.

Some of the celebrities I shared a stage with included Buddy Franklin, Didier Cohen, Timomatic, Sarah De Bono, Rob Mills, Gretel Scarlett and Xanthe Mallett to name a few. We all donated our time to help spread the message of giving to those less fortunate and to show how easy it is.

Now in its 26th year, the cause is a wonderful opportunity to donate a gift (whether made or purchased), assisting families and people in need at a time of giving and sharing.

What will you do this holiday season to help those less fortunate and in times of need?

What cause or charity do you like to ‘give’ to?

Why do you think it’s so important to ‘give’ or ‘donate’?

Stayed tuned…

I’m currently sitting at Sydney international airport, waiting for my flight to Los Angeles and San Francisco. I have a few days of work on the West Coast of the USA which is always fun.

The weather is fabulous this time of year and I look forward to eating at my favourite Japanese restaurant in San Francisco.

I’ve been shooting on location for Ezibuy this past week and will return to Sydney in a few days to finish the Holiday shoot. I wore these great harem-type pants in navy and black that I simply have to get.

Mid-week, I’m shooting a TV commercial in Australia so it’s busy times indeed. I love it.

I have some great pics to share with you and will have plenty more in my next post.

Stay tuned…

Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

My family and I recently arrived in Sydney, Australia. So far it has been a relaxing time spent with family and friends. It’s been a while since Steve and the kids were here so everyone wants to see them and see how our children have grown.

I start shooting for Sara by Ezibuy in a matter of days so prior to leaving New York, I made sure I purchased a new bottle of my favourite foundation I’ve been using for over six years. Armani Luminous Silk Foundation gives me the coverage I need whilst feeling light and looking smooth and natural on my face.

http://www.giorgioarmanibeauty-usa.com/luminous-silk-foundation/A041,default,pd.html

I have had many different brands and products applied to my face over the course of my career and no foundation in my opinion, comes close to Armani. I buy my own and have the make-up artist apply it for each and every job. Most of them are happy to use my personal foundation, if they don’t already use Armani themselves.

Make sure when you buy any foundation for the first time, you have a consultant assist you. Getting the right shade is very important for a colour match that you want to look natural. A good guide is to apply your foundation on the inside of your arm or wrist. The colour or shade you see the least, is generally the right one for you.

What foundation do you use and love?

Why do you love it so much?

Is price important to you?
